The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Russian Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov met in Kabul with Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to discuss Afghanistan’s participation in the upcoming Moscow Format meeting.
Zhirnov confirmed that Afghanistan, under the leadership of Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, will participate in the forum’s seventh session in October, with the Russian Federation officially recognizing the Islamic Emirate as a member for the first time.
Muttaqi welcomed the development as a major milestone, expressing hope that regional platforms like the Moscow Format will strengthen trust and promote constructive cooperation between Afghanistan and neighboring countries.
