The Independent Arabia, a British Arabic-language news outlet, has reported that political and social groups in Libya have criticized U.S. efforts to resolve the country’s political crisis, saying the proposed American initiative would only repeat the existing crisis instead of providing a genuine political solution.
Leaders from Misrata said any future political settlement must be based on a legitimate legal framework and supported by international guarantees. They also stressed that individuals accused of corruption or human rights violations should have no role in any future political process.
