The leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, said that Pakistan, despite its efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States, continues to face serious internal challenges.
Addressing a gathering in Lahore, he noted that strained relations with India and Afghanistan have adversely impacted trade routes and added to Pakistan’s already mounting economic pressure.
He further stated that the prevailing situation has not only deepened economic difficulties but has also led to dissatisfaction among some key partners, including China, resulting in reduced investment.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman added that protests announced against rising prices have been postponed, though not cancelled, and will be resumed in the near future.
