    Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi Holds Phone Talks with His Tajik Counterpart

    Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, and Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister, Sirajuddin Mehrodeen, held a telephone conversation discussing political ties, economic collaboration, border security, and regional initiatives between Kabul and Dushanbe.

    The Afghan Foreign Ministry said that Minister Muttaqi underscored the emergence of a renewed climate of trust between the two countries to advance political, economic, and security cooperation, while cautioning that certain groups are trying to undermine this positive momentum.

    He condemned the recent security incidents in Tajikistan that caused casualties among Chinese nationals and stressed the need for coordinated efforts to uphold regional stability.

    Minister Muttaqi affirmed that the Islamic Emirate is fully committed to enhancing border security, carrying out joint investigations, and coordinating on all related issues, stressing the urgent need for collective measures against malicious actors.

    Meanwhile, the Tajik foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to constructive engagement with the Afghan government and dismissed attempts by groups aiming to undermine bilateral relations.

    The statement added that both sides agreed to maintain regular contact between their border forces and continue technical meetings to further strengthen security cooperation.
