The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Russian President’s Special Representative Zamir Kabulov to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, expanding economic and trade cooperation, and addressing several regional issues.

According to the statement, Minister Muttaqi expressed appreciation for the Russian Federation’s recent decision not to include the name of the interim government in its list of prohibited groups.

The statement further noted that Moscow has agreed to accept an ambassador from Afghanistan, and Mr. Muttaqi assured that the Afghan government will soon appoint a diplomat at the ambassadorial level to represent the country in Moscow.

Meanwhile, Zamir Kabulov emphasized the importance of expanding ties with Afghanistan. He added that, in this context, a dedicated meeting will be held on the sidelines of the upcoming Kazan Forum to launch the work of the Russia-Afghanistan Bilateral Permanent Commission.

Kabulov described the strengthening of bilateral ties between Russia and the interim government as significant, calling it a new phase in the relationship between the two countries.
