The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has issued a statement welcoming the recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regarding the security situation and economic progress in Afghanistan. The Ministry views the statement as a positive step and an acknowledgment of the prevailing realities on the ground. It considers the remarks a clear recognition of the interim government’s efforts in strengthening security, promoting economic growth, and achieving other significant milestones.

In the statement, the Ministry also expressed its readiness to engage in constructive discussions with the United States and other countries regarding the repatriation of Afghan nationals who no longer meet the residency requirements in their host countries. The Ministry highlighted the importance of establishing bilateral mechanisms and providing consular services that align with accepted standards, with the goal of preventing complications, addressing national security concerns, and ensuring the dignity and rights of returning citizens.

It is worth noting that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security had previously issued a statement indicating that, given the improvements in security and ongoing economic development in Afghanistan, Afghan nationals residing in the United States should consider returning to their home country.
