The Ministry of Justice of Afghanistan stated in a press release that any objection to Islamic laws is an objection to Sharia and is subject to legal action.

According to the ministry: “Afghanistan’s legislative documents are continuously reviewed by multiple panels of senior scholars, as well as by each ministry and relevant institution, the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Court, and the Leadership Office, based on the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH), and authoritative Hanafi jurisprudence texts, to ensure compliance with Islamic Sharia before being presented to the leadership for approval.”

The Ministry of Justice added that there is no article, clause, section, provision, or ruling in the Islamic Emirate’s legislative documents that contradicts Islamic Sharia or lacks a Sharia source; they are fully compliant with Sharia. Therefore, objections to these laws are considered objections to Sharia.

The source noted that such objections lack a legitimate religious or scholarly basis and are instead made out of ignorance or negligence, and are considered a Sharia violation.

The Ministry of Justice warned that individuals who object to these laws will be referred to judicial and legal authorities for prosecution.
