The Ministry of Water and Energy has officially launched the construction of the Shaflogh Dam in Chinar Tu district of Uruzgan province, with a budget of 165.9 million Afghanis. The project was inaugurated by Acting Minister Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, accompanied by several other officials.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Acting Minister stated that the primary objectives of the project are to manage water resources, strengthen underground water reserves, and control seasonal flooding.
Mansoor described the Islamic system in the country as a great divine blessing and emphasized that, despite limited resources, it has brought security, transparency, ethnic unity, and economic progress.
He further noted that the ministry plans to implement solar power projects in Uruzgan, adding that necessary steps will be taken in accordance with available resources to advance these initiatives.
The Shaflogh Dam will stand 23 meters high and span 155 meters in width. It will have the capacity to store 854,106 cubic meters of water and irrigate 259 hectares of agricultural land.
