Mirwais Azizi: 10,000-Megawatt Energy Project Will Create Jobs for Afghans Across Cities and Villages

Mirwais Azizi, Chairman of Azizi Group and a prominent national investor, stated during the signing ceremony of a $10 billion energy production agreement between Azizi Group and the Ministry of Water and Energy that the project will generate employment opportunities for Afghans across both urban and rural areas.

He emphasized that with the production of energy, a significant number of jobs will be created inside the country, reducing the need for Afghan youth to seek employment abroad.

Azizi underlined that energy is the most vital and fundamental part of national development. He pointed out that Afghanistan is a country rich in natural resources but stressed the importance of putting them to practical use.

He explained that the project is designed to produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity by 2032 through a combination of solar systems, hydroelectric power, coal, wind energy, and natural gas.

Azizi also stated that their initiative does not rely on the TAPI project, describing it as time-consuming. “We are taking concrete steps ourselves,” he said, noting that an 800-megawatt power generation project is being launched in Herat.

He added that they have plans to produce 700 megawatts of electricity from wind and 2,000 megawatts from hydro sources.
