According to a statement released by the Arg (Emiratei Palace), the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met with Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and transit.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar urged Uzbekistan to remove existing obstacles facing Afghan exports and transit, provide greater facilities for Afghan exports, and simplify the visa issuance process for Afghan citizens.

Jamshid Khodjaev stated that the volume of trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has reached $1.6 billion. He added that Uzbekistan is ready to accelerate ongoing projects in Afghanistan, invest in the country’s mining sector, increase imports of Afghan meat and cotton, and build a $50 million processing plant for zinc ore in Hairatan.
