Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, during a joint meeting with a high-level Pakistani delegation in Kabul, stated that Afghanistan’s interim government, guided by its balanced and economy-centered policy, seeks constructive and mutually respectful relations with all countries, including Pakistan.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement that the meeting covered a wide range of topics, including refugees, political and economic cooperation, trade, transit, major regional projects, and other bilateral issues.

Muttaqi voiced deep concern and regret over the situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, particularly regarding forced expulsion. He called on Pakistani authorities to stop violating the rights of Afghan citizens residing in or returning from Pakistan.

In response, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar assured that Afghan refugees would not be subjected to mistreatment and that serious steps would be taken to address the issue. He emphasized that the properties and investments of Afghan refugees are their legitimate assets and that nobody has the right to seize or withhold their belongings. Dar pledged that Pakistani security authorities would act to prevent any arbitrary measures in this regard.

According to the ministry spokesperson, the talks also focused on enhancing diplomatic engagement, expanding bilateral, easing and increasing visa issuance, accelerating the transport of agricultural goods, boosting trade and transit, and emphasizing the significance of major initiatives such as Afghanistan Trans, CASA-1000, TAPI, and TAP.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister also extended a formal invitation to Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to visit Pakistan to help sustain high-level interaction between the two neighboring countries.
