The Associated Press, citing Kenya’s national intelligence, reported that over 1,000 Kenyan citizens have been recruited into Russian forces for the war against Ukraine.

The source added that these individuals were promised a monthly salary of $2,715 along with nearly $10,000 in additional payments.

The Russian Embassy in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, denied claims that Moscow had illegally recruited Kenyans.

The embassy stated that foreign nationals may voluntarily join the Russian Armed Forces.
