Pakistani media have reported that Pashtun cricketer Naseem Shah, a member of the country’s national team, has been fined 20 million rupees for criticizing Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s disciplinary committee has alleged that Naseem Shah violated the board’s code of conduct, which resulted in the financial penalty imposed on him.

A few days earlier, during the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League, Naseem Shah criticized the manner of Maryam Nawaz’s participation.

He questioned, “Why is Maryam Nawaz being given royal protocol by the Pakistan Cricket Board?”

Following these remarks, several Pakistani activists also claimed that Naseem Shah is of Afghan origin and should be expelled from the country.
