Pakistani Government Decides to Demolish Around 50 Mosques and Madrassas in Islamabad

The Voice of Hindukush has received a list showing that the Pakistani government plans to demolish 50 mosques and madrassas built in Islamabad’s green zones.

The government cites the construction of these religious sites on illegally occupied land as the reason for the decision.

On the other hand, several religious figures, including senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader Hamdullah, have condemned the move, stating that the government has stepped outside the framework of the constitution, Islam, and the Quran.

Meanwhile, local residents reacted to the decision by pointing out that a building named “Constitution One” also exists on illegally occupied land. However, because it houses the residences of judges, Imran Khan’s family relative Aleema Khan, and other high-ranking officials, the government can’t dare to demolish it.

It is also worth mentioning that just a day earlier, the Pakistani government granted major hotels in Islamabad permission to sell alcohol in exchange for a fee of 500,000 rupees.
