The Pakistani Taliban have strongly condemned remarks made by Pakistan’s representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, during a UN Security Council session. In a statement, they dismissed Akram’s claim that the Pakistani Taliban operate from Afghan territory, calling it an unfounded accusation and a propaganda effort.
The group asserted in its statement that its activities are carried out within Pakistan with the support of local communities. “Alhamdulillah, with the cooperation and backing of our devout people, we continue our sacred jihad. This ongoing support has led to numerous daily attacks against security institutions across the country,” the statement added.
The Pakistani government and its political leaders have repeatedly accused Afghanistan of harboring and supporting the Pakistani Taliban. However, they have yet to provide concrete evidence to substantiate this claim. Meanwhile, the Afghan interim government has consistently reiterated that it does not interfere in the internal affairs of others and will not allow any external interference in its own affairs.
