Qatari writer Mohammad Al-Bashiq stated that Pakistan’s recent military strike on Afghanistan was intended to appease Washington, but in the end, it proved detrimental to Pakistan itself.

On his X account, he wrote: “Pakistan’s recent strike on Afghanistan was intended to further U.S. strategic goals and please Washington in response to the refusal to hand over Bagram Airbase. However, the move ultimately backfired on Pakistan.”

Al-Bashiq noted that Pakistan, dependent on Gulf countries for about 85 percent of its oil and nearly 30 percent of its gas, is now facing halted exports and a severe energy crisis as the conflict continues.

He argued that Islamabad walked into a trap of its own making, with its flawed policies driving the country’s economy to the brink of a catastrophic collapse.
