The interim government leadership’s emergency committee has started the reconstruction of the bridge over the Arghandab River in Kandahar, which was previously destroyed. Valued at 5.5 million Afghanis, the project is expected to be completed in 45 days, with the road reopening for traffic.
Sher Hassan Khushiwal, the committee’s technical head, stated that the project would be finished on time, and the road would soon be accessible to traffic again.
It is important to note that a section of the bridge was damaged during past conflicts, which caused significant travel challenges for thousands of residents in Arghandab, Khakrez, Nish, Maiwand, Ghorak, Zheri, and Urozgan province.
