Afghanistan’s Ministry of Finance announced that, following Cabinet approval and authorization from the Amir al-Mu’minin, the registration and tax payment process for unregistered vehicles, commonly known as “one-key” vehicles, has been extended through the end of the 1405 Solar Hijri year.
According to the ministry, the process begins today in Kabul, Herat, Balkh, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Kunduz, and the Khost-Paktia provinces.
To ease the financial burden on the public, the ministry said owners of standard vehicles from the 1990–2004 model years will receive a 35 percent discount, while owners of standard vehicles from the 2005 model year onward will receive a 60 percent discount on the applicable charges.
The ministry also said the registration of both standard and armored unregistered vehicles will be subject to a 20 percent tariff.
