Bangladeshi media report that the country’s International Crimes Tribunal has sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, currently living in exile, to six months in prison on charges of contempt of court.

Officials cited in the reports said the verdict was issued on Wednesday, along with an arrest warrant against her.

Announcing the decision, Bangladesh’s Chief Prosecutor for the International Crimes Tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, stated that Hasina had organized a systematic protest campaign against her own government, which resulted in civilian casualties.
