Arab media have reported that the Syrian army has taken control of Al-Shaddadi city in Al-Hasakah province.

The Syrian army has immediately declared a state of emergency in the city and launched a search for ISIS prisoners who escaped from the prisons of the SDF militias.

Reports say that the forces have recaptured around 200 escaped ISIS members.

This comes as the Syrian army has, over the past few days, carried out extensive sweep operations against the SDF and PKK militias in eastern Syria, clearing many key areas of their presence.
