Syria’s official news agency reported that President Ahmed al-Sharah will pay an official visit to Germany later this week.
During his visit to Berlin, al-Sharah is expected to meet with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to hold talks on strengthening bilateral relations.
Following the fall of Syria’s former regime, relations between Damascus and Berlin have gradually moved toward normalization.
In March 2025, Germany reopened its embassy in Damascus, ending a 13-year halt.
