The Ministry of Information and Culture has announced the completion of a project aimed at protecting and reinforcing the Minaret of Jam in Ghor province against the risk of floods.

According to the ministry, the project involved structural reinforcement and gabion work and was completed at a cost of approximately 2.2 million Afghanis.

The Minaret of Jam, standing 63 meters tall, is the world’s second-tallest brick minaret after Delhi’s Qutub Minar. It was built during the reign of Sultan Ghiyath al-Din Ghori of the Ghurid dynasty and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2002.
