US President Donald Trump temporarily suspended the “Freedom Project,” a US plan aimed at ensuring the free passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the decision follows progress toward a potential final agreement with Iranian representatives.
He added that sanctions on Iran will remain in place, but the project has been paused to allow time to evaluate the outcome of ongoing negotiations.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency said Trump had stepped back from his position, stating that the so-called “Freedom Project” has been halted.
The agency criticized the US stance, calling the move a sign of reduced pressure.
