The Arabic Post of Al Jazeera has reported that Turkish officials say if U.S. President Donald Trump lifts the restrictions preventing Ankara from purchasing F-35 fighter jets, Turkey would be able to acquire the aircraft within a short period.
Reports indicate that positive signs of easing the restrictions have emerged following the NATO summit. U.S. Vice President JD Vance also stated that the legal conditions for Turkey’s return to the F-35 program are currently being evaluated.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged the U.S. administration not to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. He claimed that Turkey’s current policies pose a threat to Israel’s security.
In response, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he does not attach importance to the objections raised by Israel and Greece. He emphasized that most U.S. defense restrictions on Turkey have already been lifted and expressed optimism about progress toward acquiring the F-35 fighter jets.
