According to a report by the Associated Press, a Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed and its pilot was died.
The report states that the aircraft crashed today (Wednesday) just moments after taking off from Balıkesir Air Base.
The wreckage of the aircraft was found along the Istanbul–Izmir highway.
Officials have said that an investigative team will begin work to examine the incident.
