The Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications said in a statement that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Ankara will continue its diplomatic efforts to support Lebanon’s security and stability and will provide the necessary assistance to the country.
According to the statement, Erdoğan made these remarks during a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam in Istanbul.
The statement added that the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Lebanon, regional developments, and ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.
Erdoğan said that Turkey attaches special importance to its relations with Lebanon and that strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries would be beneficial.
He emphasized that Turkey will pursue all possible means of supporting Lebanon, including through humanitarian assistance.
The Turkish president also said that strengthening good-neighborly relations between Lebanon and Syria would benefit the region, and that Ankara will continue its efforts to further enhance relations between the two countries.
