According to the reports, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued warnings and notices to thousands of Afghan nationals residing in California under conditional visas, instructing them to leave the United States within seven days.
Reports indicate that these individuals have been informed that they no longer possess legal authorization to remain in the country and, if they fail to depart voluntarily, they may be located and deported by the government.
The report further adds that the notices also state that these Afghan nationals are not authorized to work legally in the U.S.
This event has placed thousands of Afghan residents in California at risk of deportation.
Previously, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security described Afghanistan’s economic and security conditions as stable, suggesting that Afghan nationals should return to their home country.
It is noteworthy that following the U.S.-led NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, tens of thousands of Afghans who were associated with U.S. forces in different crimes fled to the United States.
