Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, met on Thursday in Balkh province with the Director General and representatives of Uzbekistan’s railway authority to discuss railway development projects.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs, Uzbek officials noted during the meeting that they plan to construct a new 1.5-kilometer railway line at Naibabad Station, along with several warehouses for loading and unloading goods along the route.

Mullah Baradar welcomed the initiative and instructed officials of the Ministry of Public Works to work closely with their Uzbek counterparts in advancing the project’s technical and construction phases.

The new railway line and warehouses are expected to boost the capacity of Hairatan Port and enhance facilities for traders.
