Media reported that clashes between police and protesters in Karbi Anglong district, Assam, left two people dead and more than 50 injured. Forty-eight of the injured were police officers, including two senior officers.

The India Times reported that the demonstration began as a protest against alleged land grabbing before escalating into violence. During the unrest, protesters set fire to several shops and the residence of a local official.
