Amrullah Saleh, the former first vice president of the fallen republic and a former CIA agent, has recently expressed concern that NATO might disintegrate due to the ongoing disagreements and disputes among the member countries of the United States, the European Union, and NATO regarding international issues. He stated that these recent disagreements, the relocation of important meetings from NATO’s main headquarters in Brussels to Paris and London, and the rifts between the United States and its allies indicate that the organization is on the verge of losing its centrality. Amrullah Saleh added that just a few days before the fall of the republic, he shared this concern with a NATO representative, who acknowledged that if they betrayed the leaders of the republic, NATO would disintegrate.
The anxious, worried, and distressed state of Saleh, lobbying for the continuation of NATO’s presence, is evident from afar. After the trust of the United States and other Western countries in Saleh and his associates was lost and they faced internal conflicts, Saleh and his associates’ only hope was NATO, believing that their former allies in the organization would support them, as he had served in Afghanistan for two decades and tirelessly worked to protect their interests. Now that he sees this last hope also sinking, he has started shouting for their rescue and to express his distressed state and condition.
Saleh’s meaningless and futile lobbying is fruitless from several angles; first of all, Saleh is neither a ruler of any country now, nor does he have any executive authority, nor can he perform any miracle that would make him useful to NATO. Of course, when he was in power and they could benefit from him, he was well utilized, and he served fully. But now Saleh spends his nights and days in a foreign land, his people are safe from his tyranny in their homeland, he has lost his former prestige, he is now an individual and even worried about his visa and residency. Therefore, all his efforts and lobbying only reflect his anxious state and the unfulfillment of his imaginary dreams.
Secondly, the situation of NATO’s presence and disintegration has nothing to do with the decisions, lobbying, excuses, and pleas of Amrullah Saleh and other similar mercenaries. NATO has its own major problems, one of which was the unprecedented defeat in Afghanistan. NATO will push away and eliminate its major global issues and internal conflicts. The problem for NATO lies in their internal strife, where everyone is largely trying to safeguard their own interests.
Amrullah first admits that NATO and other American and Western masters have betrayed him, but then he still seeks their favor and sheds tears over their potential disintegration. He does not learn from the situation of Ukraine and Zelensky, who were caught in a dire state and fate by NATO, America, and the Westerners, who tore their country apart and now deal with the remaining bones and scraps!
NATO wanted the same for Afghanistan; NATO wanted to plunge this country into internal strife after its shameful defeat in Afghanistan and, like in the 1990s, destroy it again with the help of its contractors like Amrullah. But the new rulers of the country were astute in this regard, thwarting their plan and establishing a strong central government against their and their mercenaries’ plans, preventing internal conflict and potential disintegration, stopping bloodshed, and curbing looting and plundering.
The tears of Saleh over NATO’s current situation and his lobbying for salvation are merely to give him hope that NATO will intervene to turn Afghanistan into a battlefield of wars and the implementation of their nefarious goals again, securing his interests and, in return, receiving millions of dollars from NATO. This is his last hope and reason, and nothing more!
