Reuters reported that U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on ending the Russia-Ukraine war and resuming peace negotiations. The meeting took place after their visit to Moscow, where they held three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the report, the U.S. envoys expressed optimism about new ideas discussed during the Moscow talks and voiced hope that trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States could resume. Zelensky also described the Kyiv meeting as “very important.”
Reuters added that, alongside peace efforts, Ukraine’s security needs and military and energy support for the winter were among the key topics discussed by Zelensky and the U.S. envoys. However, no major agreement has yet been reached on ending the war.
