Arab media outlets report that the Yemeni government and the Houthi armed group have reached an agreement to carry out a prisoner exchange.

Under the agreement, both sides will jointly release nearly 2,900 detainees. The Yemeni government will free 1,700 Houthi detainees, while the Houthis will release 1,200 detainees, including senior Islah Party figure Mohammed Qahtan.

The agreement was concluded in the Omani capital, Muscat, through mediation by the United Nations and Oman.
