    12 Martyred Following Overnight Earthquake in Afghanistan

    Mawlawi Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesman for the Afghan government, reported that 12 people were martyred and four others were injured in last night’s earthquake. He added that five houses were completely destroyed, while 33 were partially damaged.

    Fitrat stated that casualties were reported in Kabul, Panjshir, Logar, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Nuristan provinces.

    He further noted that the earthquake measured 5.8 on the Richter scale. According to data from international seismic monitoring organizations, its epicenter was in Yamgan district of Badakhshan province, at a depth of 186.37 kilometers below the surface.
