The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that through the efforts of the interim government’s embassy in Cairo, 17 Afghan nationals have been released from prisons in Egypt and several other African countries and repatriated to Afghanistan.

According to Deputy Spokesperson Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, these individuals had been detained in Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Sudan, and Mauritania for various reasons. He stated that, following diplomatic efforts by the interim government’s embassy in Cairo, they were freed and returned home.

A statement from the ministry read: “Through the efforts of the Islamic Emirate’s main embassy in Cairo over the past three months, 17 Afghan citizens who had been imprisoned in Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Sudan, and Mauritania for various reasons have been released and repatriated to Afghanistan via Ariana Afghan Airlines.”

The ministry emphasized that the release process was carried out in coordination with the Afghan embassy in Cairo and the relevant authorities in the respective countries. The embassy reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Afghan citizens abroad.
