The Ministry of Defense said that several groups attempted to cross into Afghanistan from the other side of the Hypothetical Durand Line toward Kamdesh district of Nuristan Province with the aim of creating insecurity in Afghanistan. The ministry said that 28 members of these groups were killed and 32 others were captured alive during operations by Afghan security and defense forces.
The statement said that the individuals had crossed into Afghanistan in several groups, including elements of ISIS and the “Evil and Corruption” groups, with the support and encouragement of Pakistani militias. They were heavily defeated and fled back to the bases of the Pakistani militias.
The statement added that Pakistani militias, Pakistani Arbakis, and ISIS fighters were also present among the groups. However, when the fighting began, the “Evil and Corruption” elements abandoned them and fled back.
According to the ministry, most of those involved in the attempt were former members of the previous administration’s security forces who had been transferred to Pakistan by Pakistani intelligence and, after receiving brief military training in established camps, were sent to Nuristan.
The ministry said that countries in the region should be aware that efforts by the Pakistani military to export conflicts, train armed groups for destabilization, and send them to other countries could contribute to insecurity throughout the region.
