The New York Times reports that 40 people, including civilians, were killed during the operation to capture Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro.
A senior Venezuelan official stated, “The attack resulted in 40 deaths, including both civilians and military personnel.”
U.S. officials told The New York Times that more than 150 aircraft took part in the operation, though they did not provide further details.
Following his capture by U.S. forces, Maduro was transferred to the United States yesterday, Saturday and is scheduled to stand trial on drug trafficking charges.
