Authorities in Turkey’s capital, Ankara, have reported that 33 people died after consuming contaminated alcohol, while 20 others remain hospitalized.

Governor Vasip Şahin stated that police have seized 102 tons of illicit alcohol and arrested 13 individuals suspected of selling the dangerous substance.

Although the governor did not specify the exact timeline of these incidents, his office posted on X that deaths linked to counterfeit alcohol have risen in recent days.

This tragedy follows a similar case last month in Istanbul, where 38 people lost their lives within four days after consuming tainted alcohol.
