The Government Media Center announced that, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (state-owned Electricity Company) signed contracts for ten major electricity projects.

According to the source, the total value of these projects is approximately 20.7 billion Afghanis, and they will be funded through public-private partnerships and the government budget.

The projects, signed with both domestic and international companies, involve the generation of 228 megawatts of wind, thermal (gas), and solar power, as well as the construction of substations and the expansion of power transmission lines.

The specific projects include: a 40-megawatt solar power plant in the Dehdadi district of Balkh province; a 5-megawatt solar power plant in Herat province; a 10-megawatt solar power plant in Laghman province; a 42-megawatt wind power plant in Herat (the first phase of a planned 200-megawatt wind power project); the construction of a substation in the Mohammad Agha district of Logar province; a 40-megawatt solar power plant in Sheikh Masri, Nangarhar; a 50-megawatt thermal (gas) power plant in Shiberghan, Jawzjan; and a 40-megawatt solar power plant in Mohammad Agha, Logar.

Additionally, two power line expansion projects are included: one to complete the remaining work on the power line from Zabul to Kandahar and install SVC systems at substations, and the other to finalize the remaining work on the 110 kV power line from Kajaki to Kandahar.

The source further stated that the electricity tariffs for these projects are notably low, with some rates as low as 3.7 cents per kilowatt-hour.
