Over the past four years, Afghanistan has diligently and purposefully striven to erase the effects of long years of occupation and colonialism from its face and to once again return to the arena of regional and global developments and interactions with a bright and hopeful image.

There is no doubt that one of the main reasons for the instability of Afghanistan and the transformation of this land of great men into vast poppy fields and mass production of drugs was linked to the occupation and war situation of that dark era; an era that was, in fact, a plan and design by the invaders and their allies to discredit Afghanistan globally and also use it as a commercial farm for the production and export of drugs.

All of this played two seemingly separate roles and plans, but in reality, they were one; plans that could both portray Afghanistan as a black market for addiction and make preventive, or biased and profiteering policies to prevent and eradicate the root of addiction – which is drugs.

But now the situation has changed, and the drug problem has decreased by almost one hundred percent. This very issue has led to a positive shift in perceptions of this country, with everyone seeing this success as clear evidence of the current government’s effectiveness and expressing a desire to establish positive and hopeful relations with it.

In recent years, as Afghanistan has been striving to regain its official identity on the global stage and implement the necessary standards of an improving country beneficial to the region and the world, Russia, with its transparent and effective role in the world, has recognized this reality and achieved the top position in the recognition of Afghanistan. Now, too, it has taken significant steps toward establishing important political and economic relations with Afghanistan.

In Vladimir Putin’s recent interview with India Today television network, he made a clear and explicit reference to recognizing Afghanistan, citing the current Afghan government as a reality and the effective efforts of politicians in significantly reducing drug cultivation and production as one of the reasons.

Although opponents couldn’t digest Putin’s clear and unambiguous statement and quickly and swiftly opposed it, they forgot that Putin is the president of Russia, one of the most important countries in the world. His words are not based on guesswork, pressure, or imposition, but on political acumen, rational insight, and a logical understanding of the current situation in Afghanistan.

Contrary to the dissenting statements of fugitive opponents, which are always based on the weak and rotten pillars of bias and self-interest, and are in agreement and alignment with the positions of countries opposed to the current Afghan government, and lack even the smallest percentage of reality or objectivity.

Given what Afghanistan has demonstrated in various fields of development and growth which has also earned Russia’s trust, there is no doubt that in the coming years, Afghanistan’s official identity will return to it, and the world will witness a country with a high degree of influence in the region and the world.
