Afghanistan’s Cadres; The Claim of Scientific Self-Sufficiency and Reality

Afghanistan has possessed potential cadres and brilliant talents in various fields globally; Cadres that, whenever suitable opportunities for their education and development have been provided, have demonstrated their abilities well, raised the good name of their beloved country, and raised its flag. Such talented and capable cadres are considered the key to the growth and progress of any society, and with their presence and knowledge, the breadth of the homeland takes on a vibrant hue and prospers.

However, this can only be viewed optimistically if three fundamental criteria are met in such a generation: religiosity, commitment, and expertise. Undoubtedly, as long as these criteria are not properly shaped, taught correctly, and institutionalized in the minds of knowledge-seeking generations, individual and collective efforts will not yield the desired results; because the outcome of these efforts will be distorted and far from noble goals.

Specialization is insufficient in many cases and, instead of bringing prosperity and assistance, leads to destruction and playing with the lives of the nation; as practically during the republican era, Afghanistan had become a field of looting and plunder, and apart from mercenary politicians and Western puppets, so-called experts and professionals also considered this land an opportunity for profiteering and plundering.

What is important in this context is that many professional cadres and talented individuals who had studied abroad and returned to their homeland did not have pure intentions nor were they thinking of serving the nation; rather, they were mostly seeking to fill their pockets from this chaotic wasteland. They also held citizenship in other countries for a final day, so they could escape and find refuge if necessary.

Therefore, despite their expertise, they neither healed any pain nor soothed the bruised faces; instead, they joined hands with corrupt officials and used their scientific knowledge for plunder and looting.

This very fact caused all these so-called experts and professionals, upon the change of the system of oppression and tyranny and the establishment of a system of justice, not to hesitate for a moment or remain steadfast alongside the nation, but rather to seek an escape route. This behavior clearly reveals their dependence on Western countries and their inferiority in providing biased knowledge services; knowledge that had taken root in their worse minds and corrupted their intentions.

If it were otherwise, no expert, scholar, or person of knowledge would ever leave the homeland, decide to flee, and instead remain with their people and in the soil of their land; they would build prosperity from the ruins and lift the burden of suffering and hardship from their fellow citizens.

Therefore, the words heard from this and that person, which portray Afghanistan as devoid of cadres and professionals, are in fact a lament over the graves of their opportunistic co-religionists; those who once plundered the assets of this nation side by side and are now trying to make a broken mirror appear clear thru open deception and hypocrisy, and to conceal a deep rift.

As a result, just as the pseudo-experts flocked to foreign lands – many of whom already held citizenship in those countries – true experts and genuine patriots remained with their people, worked to rebuild and develop their country, and became and remain beloved by the nation.
