The U.S. Treasury Department has announced that it has imposed new sanctions on Hamas and the movement’s covert financial support networks.

According to the department, these measures were carried out by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and target a number of entities linked to Hamas.

U.S. officials alleged that Hamas operates under the cover of civilian organizations and uses such structures to raise financial resources.
