Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Prime Minister of the Afghan government, has accepted the credentials of Alexander Ogorodnikov, Belarus’s non-resident ambassador and special representative to Afghanistan, Deputy Spokesman Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat said.

During the credential presentation ceremony, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen political, economic and transit relations between Afghanistan and Belarus.

Mullah Hassan Akhund said the opening of a new chapter in bilateral relations reflects growing mutual trust and closer ties. He expressed confidence that the new ambassador’s mission would further strengthen political, economic and transit cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Ogorodnikov welcomed the start of his diplomatic mission and said Belarus would expand trade with Afghanistan in agricultural products, food supplies and medicines.

He also said recent visits by various Afghan delegations to Belarus had helped build greater trust and strengthen bilateral relations.
