Since the fall of the republican regime, the most repeated promise by the former fleeing figures has been the “end of hard days.” Dostum, Mohaqqiq, Ahmad Massoud, and several other former politicians have repeatedly made this promise abroad, using empty slogans to provide psychological comfort to their few disillusioned and unfortunate supporters and war-hungry projects. Whenever their supporters criticize their symbolic movements and complain about their unstable lives, they offer them empty promises of progress and better days, which in reality are just cover-ups for their failures.

After the recent tumultuous incident in Yiftal, Badakhshan, some opponents have spread false rumors that new incidents are imminent in certain specific areas. Dostum also claims that if he were afraid of war, he wouldn’t have been a marshal. But the people’s memory is not that weak; the public saw with their own eyes who turned their back during the critical moments of the fall of the republican regime. On the other hand, the title of “mechanical marshal” did not arise from any historical sacrifice, but rather from political deals and preferential disputes in the final days of the republic, and people also understand how great the lies are behind the emergence of new events.

The false titles and praises of Dostum’s heroism were not limited to the crumbling authority of the Republic, but efforts are still being made to create a false hero out of Dostum. A few days ago, Ahmad Massoud claimed in his speech that if a transparent election were held, Dostum would be more successful than the current government officials. Such statements show that either they are unaware of social and historical realities, or they want to give false hopes to their followers by claiming the popularity of a deal-maker, warlord, and false hero.

If the practical direction of these failed figures is analyzed, they have had no clear thought or opinion in the past five years other than requesting weapons and material support from foreign embassies and intelligence agencies. Which politician, who sees their political survival and the possibility of returning to power only thru direct foreign support, can then share the hope of change with disillusioned supporters? Their practical actions show that their main goal is to draw attention back to their neglected state.

It is time for Afghanistan’s informed and new generation to deeply evaluate the five years of false hopes of the opponents. Their few followers who still beat their chests to their online threats and slogans must understand that these warlike faces can never be the masters of a sovereign and independent destiny. The promises and slogans of the “end of hard days” are merely an exploitation of the helplessness and emotions of a few followers, in order to continue their political business around them.

The opponents’ deceitful narratives, fanciful hopes, and propaganda slogans are an attempt to divert attention from the facts. The unproductive narratives of the opponents over the past five years have proven that these politicians’ words are merely self-deception. Our war-torn society can no longer tolerate these repetitive promises and deceptive slogans; the lasting solution for Afghanistan lies only in the comprehensive awareness, insight, and the correct and logical rejection of these false ideas by the new generation.
