Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, during a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center on Monday (10), shared information with the media about the importance of using Chabahar Port as a transit route for Afghanistan.

Mohammadullah Bakhtyar, ministry’s chief of staff, stated that through the ministry’s efforts, significant facilities have been arranged for organizing transit and commercial activities via Iran’s Chabahar Port, which is considered a major step in boosting the country’s exports and imports.

He added that from the ministry’s perspective, utilizing Iran’s transit routes—especially the Chabahar Free Zone—holds particular importance. He emphasized that it is a reliable transit corridor that facilitates Afghanistan’s access to open waters.

According to ministry officials, transit costs through Iran’s Chabahar Port have decreased by 50 percent.

Based on the Ministry of Commerce’s data, the Government Media and Information Center posted on X that establishing joint transport companies, creating logistics centers, and equipping the Milak Port are fundamental steps toward strengthening the country’s economic growth, employment, and export capacity.
