Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan have agreed to establish a trilateral land transport corridor aimed at expanding regional transit and trade cooperation, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation announced.

The agreement was reached during a trilateral meeting in Mashhad, Iran, attended by a delegation led by Yar Mohammad Ramazan, Director of Land Transport Laws and Treaties. The participants discussed strengthening transit cooperation, enhancing transport connectivity, and advancing other areas of land transport collaboration.

Under the agreement, the new corridor will enable Iranian and Tajik commercial goods to transit through Afghanistan for onward transport to international markets, a move expected to strengthen Afghanistan’s role as a regional transit hub.
