Reliable sources told Voice of Hindukush that the body of Afghanistan’s first Astronaut and pilot, Abdul Ahad Momand, will be returned from Munich, Germany, to Kabul on Monday (July 6).

According to the sources, the return is being coordinated by Afghanistan’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defense, and Transport and Civil Aviation.

His funeral and burial are scheduled to take place later the same day in Kabul. The ceremony is expected to be attended by Afghan government officials, members of Momand’s family, relatives, and numerous other attendees.

Abdul Ahad Momand was Afghanistan’s first Astronaut, completing a historic space mission in 1988. He is widely regarded as one of the country’s most distinguished figures in the fields of aviation and science.
