Syrian state media outlet Al-Khabour has reported that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in Ankara, the Turkish capital, to attend the sidelines of the 36th NATO Summit. During his visit, he met with U.S. President Donald Trump, several members of the U.S. Congress, and Washington’s Special Envoy for Syria and Iraq.
During the meeting, President Trump announced that the United States would remove Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, describing the decision as a historic step. He also said that Damascus could play a constructive role by cooperating with Washington on issues related to Lebanon and Hezbollah.
Meanwhile, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa welcomed the U.S. decision and expressed his gratitude to President Trump.
