Al Arabiya reported that coordinated large-scale attacks by the Al-Qaeda network and the Tuareg Front in Mali have placed the country’s ruling military council under significant internal and external pressure.
According to the report, although the head of the military council, Assimi Goïta, imposed security restrictions following the killing of the defense minister, the government reportedly maintains effective control only over the capital and a few key areas. The report further claims that the authorities are presenting a false image of full control by censoring public opinion, a situation that is not sustainable.
It is worth noting that, in recent weeks, several cities in Mali, including the capital, have come under intense attacks by Al-Qaeda, and the group has reportedly seized control of a number of areas.
