The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that an attack on a civilian hospital in Darfur, Sudan, left 64 people dead and 89 others injured.

According to the organization, the strike targeted Al-Daein Teaching Hospital, completely destroying its facilities.

The casualties reportedly include children, patients, and medical staff.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, strongly condemned the attack, stressing that hospitals and medical personnel must be protected during times of conflict.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, previous attacks on civilian institutions and hospitals in Sudan have been attributed to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

Reports suggest that the group receives significant military and logistical support from the United Arab Emirates.
