Indian security officials have confirmed that a powerful explosion at a munitions factory in the western state of Maharashtra has resulted in eight fatalities.
According to Reuters, the incident took place yesterday, with seven others also reported injured.
India’s Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, confirmed the incident, describing it as a powerful explosion. He noted that the casualty figures are preliminary and the death toll could increase.
The explosion caused the roof of the factory to collapse, though the exact cause and details of the blast remain unclear.
